The question will soon be asked, so consider this a study quiz before the test, “If it became clear and the distinction is made between keeping God’s true Commandment-keeping Sabbath (Saturday) versus the man-made tradition and custom, supposedly referred to as the so-called Lord’s Day (Sunday), what day would you chose?
On a recent post a friend commented, “I don’t see God punishing anyone for keeping any particular day.” Well, the truth according to Scripture is, “He will!” There is a text in Scripture which states:
Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Now, to answer the question if God will do any punishing because of worshiping, what does the Bible say? It states clearly the “wrath of God” will be poured out. Sounds like punishment, to me. Now, let’s ask another question, “Do these verses refer to worship?” The answer is found in verse 9. There is a condition set between those who “worship the beast”, as opposed to what? Look at verse 12, those who “keep the Commandments of God”. Does the Commandments of God give any indication, any clue as to what day is God’s day of worship to be kept holy? Yes, it is the Fourth Commandment, where it specifically says, “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy…” Does it refer to any other day other than the “seventh” day within that Commandment? The answer is “no”.
Now, let’s move forward. Let’s consider this for a moment, when there comes that day when you will have to make a choice, a choice between keeping Sunday and being able to live comfortably, buying and selling and having no issues with the law as opposed to choosing to keep Saturday, and not able to buy or sell for your daily needs and facing arrest for going against the law, what would you choose? Would you choose to observe Sunday or would you choose to keep the Sabbath (Saturday)?
Yes, I know, some of you are looking for some physical mark to be placed on your forehead or your hand, but that’s not what it actually means. It is prophecy, so it is prophetic language. Your head means what you think and your hand means what it is you do. So, one can receive this so-called “mark” either because you believe it and don’t do it, or you do it but not necessarily believe it. Notice the contrast, those who are “sealed” are ONLY sealed in their foreheads. Why? Because it is what they believe and automatically will do because it is what they believe.
So, the question will become yours very soon. For now, I imagine you can feel comfortable about going about what you’re presently doing; but, what will you do when it comes to making the choice, and you will have to make it, between serving God and serving the law of the land, or man. Will you choose to do what God has commanded you to do or will you do what man lawfully tells you to do? In fact, let’s ask the question right now: “Are you NOW doing what God has commanded you to do, or are you following a man-made tradition or custom and worshiping on Sunday because it is something your family has done almost forever, or because this is what everybody seems to be doing, or it really doesn’t matter, in your thinking, what day you go to church? Because it is really not about church, at all! Nope. It’s really about either doing what God said, because He only made one day “holy”. Only one. In fact, when He made that day holy, there were only two people on the planet, Adam and Eve. There were no churches to attend. It was a choice since God made the seventh day, or Saturday holy, the day after He kept it Himself. So, do you think, really think God made this day so that He would keep it and not the people He created to keep it? I know, it does sound a little bit silly, doesn’t it?
So, what will you do? I would suggest you get into the habit of keeping the proper day now before the test comes because if you flunk this test, there is no amount of love, or grace, or any other such thing which will save you, simply because you knowingly did wrong. The choice is yours.
Let’s close with this thought, if you look at verse:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
There is that pesky “mark” thing again. Now, if you choose to keep Sunday, that “mark” which means you are able to “buy and sell”, would you rather choose being able to do that instead of choosing what God wants you to do? Let’s look at it another way, when that day comes, and it is coming, and we both had to make choices, and the choice I made I cannot buy or sell and you are able to do so, because you are observing whatever the law the land states, won’t that sort of be a clue as to who is on the right side of the question? I think so.
What do you think?
