We are familiar with the account of the “watchmen” on the walls:

Isaiah 62:6 – I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, [which] shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence

Ezekiel 33:6 – But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take [any] person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

I’ve seen depictions of how these watchmen were positioned along the walls surrounding the city, each set a certain distance from each other, scanning the horizon for any signs of danger.  At certain times, the call would go forth:

Isa 21:11  The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?

Isa 21:12  The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

And this is how ancient Israel protected itself from its enemies.  However, the times have changed and it appears there is just as much danger coming from “within” without really concerning ourselves what is going on “without”!

As I’m reviewing the events which transpired in Oakwood University of which I made a comment earlier on my timeline, I’m seeing so much more as I am watching the recordings on YouTube.  Unless I had known different I would never have figured it for an Adventist, a Seventh Day Adventist gathering.  Look at the dress and jewelry.  Where is there “Dress Reform” anymore?  It appears to be more commercial and entertainment than worship.  And this on the Sabbath day, too.  Oh, sure, there will be many who will not conflict with my view but that’s okay, you cannot be a watchmen and be afraid of controversy.  So, for a moment, instead of my looking outward, let’s look inward and see what is brewing because we cannot assume because what’s going “within” the wall is kosher.  Not, anymore.

I have found Ezekiel’s vision in the eighth chapter of his book interesting to the point it has consumed me.  I am now seeing what he saw taking place within God’s church.  I am seeing, today, how there is growing less and less a distinction between that of the sacred and secular.  If one would close their eyes and carried into some of our worship services, on the Sabbath, however it should not make any difference the day, and not be told it was an Adventist service, one would think they were at a nominal (Sunday) church service or at a club!  This should never be.  Where is the distinction between God’s “Remnant” church and that of the church of Babylon?  Or that of the world?

Now, there will be those who will say, “Stop judging, Roy.  Who are you to judge?”  Well, somebody better do it before the “last” Judge of all the earth does stand up and when it is that time, there is no second chances to get it right because all would have been decided.  This is why God placed “watchmen” on the walls, higher than the others so they’re able to see farther and further into what is really happening on the outside AND inside of the walls.  Judgment calls need to be made and not afraid to be spoken clearly and loudly enough to give call to warning those who cannot see for themselves.  Many will not take warning and will judge the watchmen as busybodies, who’s focus should be on themselves and not the duty for which God has called them for.  Our churches and universities and colleges are turning into cesspools and it has been changing so gradually we are not cognizant of the smell of spoilage.  Men walking with ear-rings, true “Ismaelites” and not citizens of Jerusalem, the true Israelites.  Women who need to take cotton balls and toxic remedies to remove the paint from their faces before going to bed.  No, we don’t need to worry about the enemy attacking us because we don’t have anything worth any value.  We did, but not now and this is a sad commentary.

We are in a period of time when warnings should be sounded, it seems, almost every day because the enemy’s time is short and he knows it, but it appears we have been lulled to sleep, not concern of the attacks and for one it would concern me if the enemy is no longer attacking me and I’m at peace in this time and state of war.  Oh, he may cause you to have a sniffle or two to make you think you are being afflicted, but he’s already got you, and he does take care of his own.

We talk about getting back to the “old time religion” but the path there can only be found by those who remember the path, who have taken the path and able to recognize the path.  This is why watchmen were needed.  But, like the king said about Micaiah, “I don’t like him.  He never says anything good.”

I wonder if I said anything good, just now.
