Many of you, because of the political climate going on in the United States may think I’m speaking about the Democrats or Republicans, but actually I am speaking about neither although the application will come back to them. I’m referring to the two parties which will, rather, are being divided as we speak. The division between God’s people and the World, or those who are not God’s people. It is safe to also state you cannot be a member of both parties. You have to be in one or the other. The Bible states quite clearly, Christ will separate the two because from close examination, many will have the appearance of one but not actually be, but He is able to see clearly which party each one of us belong.
Truth be told, the Bible gives a clear cut view between which party we may belong but we have to be willing to open our eyes, both literal and spiritual in order to distinguish what those parties are and then be honest with ourselves as to which we truly belong. If you are in one which you are not satisfied, there is time—now, to make the switch and then hold fast to where you truly desire to belong.
Now, let’s relate this to our time and make application. Many of us are caught up in the “temporal” political excitement which is taking place. A video I will post will accompany this message, has made it clear, to me, we, as Christians, have no business involving ourselves in any political activity. Hearing from the Spirit of Prophecy, we’re told:
“The Lord would have His people bury political questions. On these themes silence is eloquence. Christ calls upon His followers to come into unity on the pure Gospel principles which are plainly revealed in the Word of God. We cannot with safety vote for political parties; for we do not know whom we are voting for. We cannot with safety take part in any political schemes. We cannot labor to please men who will use their influence to repress religious liberty, and to set in operation oppressive measures to lead or compel their fellow men to keep Sunday as the Sabbath. The first day of the week is not a day to be reverenced. It is a spurious sabbath, and the members of the Lord’s family cannot participate with the men who exalt this day, and violate the Law of God by trampling upon His Sabbath. The people of God are not to vote to place such men in office; for when they do this, they are partakers with them of the sins which they commit while in office.” – Fundamentals of Education, page 475, para. 2
When we study our faith we should come to an understanding Israel chose to separate themselves from the authority of God to accept the appearance of the world. They wanted a king, and not God, to rule over them. In essence, this choice meant God would not be a part of their structure and they, according to Samuel, would suffer extraordinarily for this choice. Therefore, God could not participate in their political structure. So, if God cannot participate, is it safe to say it is the “world’s” structure and not God? If we are God’s people today, and God’s people know who I am talking about, I’m talking about God’s “Remnant” Church, are we to take part in the worldly political structure if we are no part of the world? Who is running for political office? Are they God’s people or the world’s people?
Remember the fine line of separation I mentioned earlier? The distinguishing mark which separates God’s people from the world will be are they Commandment-keepers or not? If they are not, then they cannot be God’s people, and since the system was devised by man, and not God, then what part are we supposed to share in it? Either we believe the Bible or not. Either we believe the Spirit of Prophecy, or not! Either you are a Christian or you are a worldling, or of the world, and there cannot be a sharing of both, but a parting which will be evident by our thinking, actions and what we say.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord without further involvement or mention of any worldly political interest. My citizenship is heavenly which disqualifies me from participating in any worldly political matches.
