While reading the story of Joseph, who interpreted the dream of Pharaoh, the thought occurred, “Who else was given this information?” Of course, the answer is, “no one.” I don’t recall this news being played on the Egyptian CNN news channel but anybody who was up-to-date with what was going on could see something was happening, because the edict went out to tax a percentage of the produce, annually, was to be brought to the main headquarters. A wise person, too, would have taken note and began storing something after perhaps getting “insider trading” information about what was happening in the main city.
Those living in the far-out reaches of the land, of course, weren’t made wise about the imminent drought. Nobody told them to save as much as they could in preparation. Life, for them, continued and being in the suburbs, provinces they’d be called in the Philippines, where life was basically a hand-to-mouth lifestyle, wouldn’t have had much to begin with in setting aside anything for the future.
And, then it would happen. The hard-times began.
I’m paralleling this event with our own soon to come. I am also making implication this particular text found in Jeremiah is a good verse to use regarding this time:
“Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.” Zech 8:23 (KJV)
Now, we KNOW this has not taken place during the Jewish economy, nor during the time of Christ, which can only mean this prophecy is still to take place. Notice the word, “Jew” here. It is not meant one who is a “literal Jew”, for their time has passed but “spiritual Jew”, which those who are Christians are, if you believe you have been chosen, by God, and serve Him.
In other words, there is coming a dearth upon the land, for bread, which is often referred to the Word of God. Oh sure, just about everybody has a Bible or two, but it doesn’t mean everyone understand what it says because few people read it and even fewer understand what they read. So, doesn’t it make sense when these conflicts which we are now beginning to see taking place in various countries, natural, economic, religious and while it is easy to lump it altogether and say, “signs of the time” or “signs of the last days” it is helpful to know exactly what time it is? I think so. This is why God has given understanding regarding what He is going to do to His chosen men and women who are given to understanding prophetic events who are tasked with the explanation to help people to be prepared whether you are close by, in the church or whether you are in the suburbs, outside the church.
Soon, God will make it evident who knows the truth versus those who claim to know the truth. Those of us who KNOW the TRUTH, I propose you get your skirt ready. They’re going to be many who will want to understand.
