Read in my morning’s devotion:
“The Straight Testimony Produces a Shaking
I asked the meaning of the shaking I had seen, and was shown that it would be caused by the straight testimony called forth by the counsel of the True Witness to the Laodiceans. This will have its effect upon the heart of the receiver, and will lead him to exalt the standard and pour forth the straight truth. Some will not bear this straight testimony. They will rise up against it, and this will cause a shaking among God’s people.–1T 181 (1857).
There are those among us who will make confessions, as did Achan, too late to save themselves. . . . They are not in harmony with right. They despise the straight testimony that reaches the heart, and would rejoice to see everyone silenced who gives reproof.–3T 272 (1873).
The Lord calls for a renewal of the straight testimony borne in years past. He calls for a renewal of spiritual life. The spiritual energies of His people have long been torpid, but there is to be a resurrection from apparent death. By prayer and confession of sin we must clear the King’s highway.–8T 297 (1904).”
I love the part where Mrs. White states: “The Lord calls for a renewal of the ‘straight’ testimony borne in years past.” Did you notice the keywords? “Years past.” The straight testimony does not come in the years ahead, by contemporary and youthful expressions of modernism of our faith. It doesn’t come from disgruntled members of the church who are questioning our past and want a future which has not been a part of our past. In any event, you cannot look forward, to change, which will be the “straight testimony borne in the years past.” Isaiah mentions “rebuilding the breaches” which WERE made, which WERE the foundation of truth and our belief. What people are wanting to do, TODAY, is to create new foundations, new pillars, a leaving of the past for what they deem something better because we are in modern times. THIS IS CATEGORICALLY WRONG.
I think, regardless of the outcome of “women’s ordination” there will be a revolt, a definite division, as she states:
“The Chaff Separated From the Wheat
Divisions will come in the church. Two parties will be developed. The wheat and tares grow up together for the harvest.–2SM 114 (1896).”
Those who will be satisfied if the vote is “yes” will tout their unfounded win which will cause those who want the old paths to remain steadfast. Those who stand for the “no”, and won, will see a leaving of those who lost, for what they call “greener paths” defying God’s leaders and their leadership, will separate into their own by ordaining whomever they want purely out of defiance.
The truth of the matter is, THIS MUST COME. It is obvious God has to clean His church from the chaff which appears as wheat, but only for the moment. What is now subtly hidden will become more apparent after the doors to the General Conference of Seventh Day Adventist for 2015 has closed their doors.
It will definitely not be, business-as-usual.
