I came across this paragraph:

“Heretofore those who presented the truths of the Third Angel’s Message have often been regarded as mere alarmists. Their predictions that religious intolerance would gain control in the United States, that church and state would unite to persecute those who keep the Commandments of God, have been pronounced groundless and absurd. It has been confidently declared that this land could never become other than what it has been–the defender of religious freedom. But as the question of enforcing Sunday observance is widely agitated, the event so long doubted and disbelieved is seen to be approaching, and the Third Message will produce an effect which it could not have had before.”—The Great Controversy, Chapter 38.  The Final Warning.

Something has disturbed me regarding the recent news about the County Clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses for those who sought homosexual marriages.  While many see this as “religious persecution”, something within me believes this is one of satan’s ploys to prepare us for his counterfeit.  Someone raised a very good point by stating, if it were a Muslim clerk refusing women driver’s licensure, would the same be the result?  Some have even likened her to “Martin Luther King”, but his goal was to denounce discrimination, and, “yes” this, too, would have to apply as a form of discrimination.  What people fail to understand is an “absolute” right.  The Bible does take a stand against homosexuality but it does not forbid them marriage.  My personal take is, I have no problem with them having “civil” services, but I am against them having “marriages”.  Now, some may see this as semantics but it does go deeper than this.  There IS a difference between an “ordained” marriage, by God, and a civil service by a representative of the State or other governing body.  This clerk, when the law was pronounced in her jurisdiction, had every right to seek another position, but she had no right to refuse someone what was in their right to have.  If she were my employee, she would have been fired, regardless of religious standing.

We must remember, the devil has counterfeits set up to have us become desensitized to what is really the issue and I believe we can look forward to seeing more of this taking place, which will erode religious liberties as they should be.  We, as a body of Christ, must learn how to look at the larger picture instead of the manifold smaller views the enemy will utilize to take our focus on what it should be.

The time of religious persecution takes place when we must decide to follow God’s Law regarding the Sabbath.  I see nowhere else, in Scripture, where the issue would have been anything else.

Her situation did not impress me.  She was facing a mere misdemeanor.  What was all that happened?  Whatever time she spent in either a police precinct of county would be considered “personal time” or “sick leave”, or even I’m sure, ample “vacation time” saved.  She wasn’t facing a felony conviction.  IF, and I say this emphatically, IF, the conviction was felonious and she would be serving substantial time or even the death penalty, I’m sure she would have resigned long before it would have been an issue.  What she suffered WAS NOT religious persecution but merely religious inconvenience.  Read Foxes’ Book of Martyrs to see what real religious persecution is.

This in no way could be considered or compared with the religious persecution which is coming.  When it would be a “federal” law to violate carrying a life sentence or the death penalty.  Now, THIS IS religious persecution.  When people are asked to go against an absolute Law of God regarding the Sabbath of the Bible or the tradition and traitorous sabbath of man, the papacy, Sunday worship.  Sure, it may be setting the stage for the greater event in the near future, but to say this woman suffered because of her religious beliefs is a mistake.  What suffering did she do?  What did she lose?

Let’s stop being caught up in the smokescreens of the enemy and really understand religious history and prophecy to better prepare ourselves for the onslaught which is ahead.
