MORE PRESENT TRUTH

“Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.” 2 Peter 1:12 (KJV)

Allow me to give you a clue as to how I study and then write:  “I do not read, research and study to see what “has” happened, but what “will” happen!”

The Bible warns us during these last days there would be a lot of opinions, theories, beliefs and, well, just simply plain error we will have to deal with.  I also recognize while there will be apparent error, there has to be apparent truth.  But how does one distinguish between the two?  That’s something for another post, but what I want to dwell on is the fact about “More Present Truth”.

When Peter wrote his thoughts, led by inspiration, his “present” truth and situation is not our “present” truth and situation.  Let’s face it, if we’re still at the same level and time Peter was, then where is the growth?  The Gospel is not something which was given and remain static.  It is constantly evolving, sort of hate using that word when speaking about the Gospel but the truth of the matter is, it is dynamic.

One of the problems we learned looking back at Christian history is how the many faiths remained stuck and became stagnant and refuse to grow with the “present” truth which is in constant flux.  Often enough, people think the “Gospel” as given to Christ to the Disciples is the same Gospel which should be given today.  We’re not under the same period of time as they, and the Gospel has constantly been growing until we have come to our day.  The Gospel of Adam differs from the Gospel of Abraham, and the Gospel of Moses, and the Gospel of David & Solomon, to Jeremiah, Malachi, Christ, Apostles, 16th Reformers and now our time.  While it remains the same in essence to the message given, the application and understanding changes.  If you are stuck on what they were doing 2,000 years ago, then how can you possibly know what will happen tomorrow?  This is why prophecy will continue to remain something people will not attempt to understand.  They wish to believe “as long as I believe and love, I will be just fine…”  WRONG!  You won’t.  Why do you bother to read the newspapers or watch the news with that kind of simplistic method of living?  Nobody looks at the weather report of last month thinking it will be accurate for this month.  Or, do you?

There is new life (present truth) God is giving to His people.  I wish to emphasize “His” because He doesn’t waste it upon those who are not His.  However, you can become “His” by accepting His message for this time, which is:

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Rev 14:9-12 (KJV)

Along with:

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.” Rev 18:1-8 (KJV)

Christ didn’t give this message during His time because it was not for His time.  The Gospel has continued to progress and develop and has been timely for all generations.  We are in the last generation and consequently the message given is considered the “last” message or warning for the world today.

You can either reject the message or receive it.  You can either continue to be confused with the lies and influence of others or read the Bible to learn for yourself what the truth is for you—today.  Not what they had as truth—yesterday.
