An excerpt taken from the book, “The New World Order” written by A. Ralph Epperson, 1990:

“A lie well believed is just as good as the truth.”

“That anonymous statement of truth is an excellent reminder of the fact that a lie repeated often enough will become the truth.

“The evidence is abundant that this nation is turning away from the God of creation. Others have warned America what the future will hold if that trend continues. One of those voices is that of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the ex-Russian who is now living in America. His words of warning are:

“Over a half century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of old people offer the following explanation for the great disasters [meaning the disasters of the Communist Revolution that killed up to 42,000,000 Russians] that had befallen Russia: ‘Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.’

“Since then I have spent well-nigh 50 years working on the history of our revolution. But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: ‘Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.'”

end quote

“A lie well believed is just as good as the truth” is a profound statement when it comes to the billions of Christians who have believed in two particular lies of the devil:  (1) When you die you aren’t really dead because your soul lives on in heaven, (2) God’s Commandments, particular the seventh day Sabbath, is no longer binding upon man.  The second lie makes the first lie more believable because there is then no accountability, no relationship with God and yet quells the fear of death by making it seem it impossible for anyone to be lost in an eternal hell, or separation from God.

“Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened” is so very true.  What is even more profound is the concept even though millions upon millions of Christians “claim” to believe, love and accept God into their lives, the very fact of their disobedience to Him shows they have lied, and they are turning this lie into “a” truth to establish them and make them have this warm fuzzy feeling regarding matters of religion and their walk as Christians.

Samuel the priest told King Saul, “To obey is better than sacrifice” and yet so many are believing in the opposite.  They believe their works of “Sunday worship”, of idolatry regarding Mary and Saints, of their “heart of goodness” and their “treatment of their fellow man” will outweigh any “law” or judgment of God in their favor, when it is by these very things will condemn them and demonstrate they didn’t love God at all!  They forgot Him by refusing to do what He has commanded, and is not asking a lot at all.  Just as I love Him and demonstrate it by the keeping of His Ten Commandments, with the mass confusion of interjecting covenants, dispensations and all the other ill-understood beliefs of many, it is best simplified by ten “golden” rules which if done properly and with the right intention and love, guarantees me a place in the Kingdom.  Sure, grace and the gift given by Him well deserves my attention and willingness to do those Ten Commandments, for Him.  It’s an exchange between two who love each other!
