It has gotten so, when I get many who send me questions, “Bro. Roy, what do you think about…?” or “Is it right for…” it makes me wonder “who i am” because it is obvious, to me, they don’t know the greater “I Am”. It is a grave responsibility to be thrust into this position, but it is not by chance. It is by design. It is by having learned and to be found grounded and secured. To be sure.
“And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.” Ezek 44:23 (KJV)
I love this quotation:
“The Lord calls for men of genuine faith and sound minds, men who recognize the distinction between the true and the false.” – Testimonies to the Church, Volume 8, Chapter 38
I must confess: there are times when I feel like I need to just shut up! Yes, it is true. Who made me a judge? Many in the Bible thought the same thing, but the truth of the matter is: God did. Yes, He did. He made men and women to stand and represent Him, distinguishing the difference between wrong or right. Now, it does not make us wrong or right, but the truth should be clear. In other words, as my mother used to say, “Hear the word of God even if it is coming from drunken lips.” Don’t judge my character by what I say, because what I say is not based upon my character! It is the ability of the Holy Spirit to use this man, this dirty, filthy, disgusting man because while God is using me to save others, He is also saving me, but at this point in history He is not waiting on me to get right with Him, because He knows how long it will take—I don’t, but it shows His power, strength and love, to me, to be able to put soundness in my words and to find others who will hear and begin to trust and listen and make changes in their lives.
I love this verse:
“Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.” Ezek 22:26 (KJV)
This is why we do what we do, and it is identifiable by those who come to us wondering “if”. How many of us have gone to “elders” whether ecclesiastical or physical to ask questions pertaining to what is good or not? There is nothing wrong with this and in fact, it is supported by the Fifth Commandment, “Honor thy father and thy mouth”. Our “fathers” and “mouths” also become those who precede us and we have an expectation from them, to give us counsel to make our lives and journey toward salvation clearer and safe. I may not have had any children of my own, but it is not to say I don’t have children. It makes me to have a special feeling, especially among those from the African nations when they send me an inbox saying, “Father, what do you think…” or “Uncle, I have a question for you”, and is to no different than when even from home it is, “Brother, should I…”?
People have questions and some of us are finally at the age of accountability and become accountable to those who are following to provide them with the distinction of what is wrong or right because the enemy is making the difference smaller and smaller but those who KNOW the truth and who will STAND for the truth will not and cannot be afraid to TELL the truth because it becomes us. It is who we are regardless of where we are, in our own life journey. Like Jeremiah, it truly becomes like “fire shut up in our bones” and we have to tell it. And until that day when Christ is seen coming in the clouds this becomes our responsibility to direct others so they’re able to look directly at Him and not look away.
Yes, I thank God for this opportunity and for the privilege of being used by Him. I thank Him that He is not waiting on me to get it just right in every aspect of my life because then nothing would ever be accomplished, because I know, He knows, and you should know, I am no different than you when it comes to many things, but it is the same Holy Spirit which is working on the both of us, and my Bible tells me, He knows how to complete what He has begun.
Has He begun in you?
