IS IT POSSIBLE TO KEEP THE TEN COMMANDMENTS?

This quotation is taken from Selected Messages, Chapter 47,

“Jesus died that He might ascribe unto the repenting sinner His own righteousness, and make it possible for man to keep the law.”

There are many who have given up!  Yes, this is true.  They claim that God’s Law, the Ten Commandments are impossible for man to keep in its entirety.  Therefore, it is much easier to claim they do not exist, or, we’re no longer to observe them, and we’re under a period of grace, a covenant of grace and love, therefore there is no longer any need to have the Ten Commandments staring us in the face condemning us!  This is their assertion and they couldn’t be more wrong.  In fact, they’re looking at it all wrong and it is this very attitude and belief which will condemn many to everlasting separation from God, not eternal life.

Jesus kept the Ten Commandments and didn’t fail in one point.  NOT ONE POINT.  If you look at Rev. 12:17: “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” You will see there WILL BE a people who WILL keep the “Commandments of God”, so how can they claim, how can anyone claim it is impossible to achieve?  Either the Bible is wrong or they are, and I’m one for believing the Bible is correct in EVERY instance.

When Christ died for me, He paid the penalty for my breaking the Law which places me back on the right footing with God.  In other words, it is as if I had never broken the Law because death is the penalty for transgression and I’m no longer deserving of death, because of what Christ did for me.  Now, my purpose in life is to keep those Laws, out of love for God and when the time comes and I have failed to do so, for example, if I have violated the 4th Commandment by not “Remember to keep the Sabbath holy…” it places me in a position to do one or two things:  (1) I can ask for forgiveness and repent and begin doing that which is right, or (2) I can continue in my sin and die.  Which would you choose?  The answer is obvious, isn’t it?

When I have chosen Christ, His righteousness is placed upon me, so when God looks over the embattlements of Heaven and sees me, He’s actually looking at Jesus’s righteousness which covers me and He smiles.

Does God smile when He looks at you?  He won’t if you’re not keeping those Ten Commandments!
