“Those who were privileged to act a part in proclaiming these messages have gained an experience which is of the highest value to them; and now when we are amid the perils of these last days, when voices will be heard on every side saying, “Here is Christ,” “Here is truth,” while the burden of many is to unsettle the foundation of our faith which has led us from the churches and from the world to stand as a peculiar people in the world…”
This quotation is referred to the particular text which states,
“Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” Matt 24:23-24 (KJV)
It occurred to me, this morning, this verse could very well be a warning of a more personal setting. It doesn’t necessarily mean we will hear, I will hear, an announcement Christ is in Rome or in Cleveland, but it could also refer to those who will try to gain your attention and present to you so-called, “truths”, which is really not Truth! One of the reasons why I have limited my exposure to the various groups, even Adventist groups, is because of the continuous dis-information. Now, I have had to make it even more personal by e-limiting my exposure by those who are on my friend’s list. Yes, it has become this serious. Yesterday, a gentlemen on my friend’s list made the proclamation the “Trinity” is a concept of the Roman Catholic Church and he calls himself an Adventist! I know in Whom I believe. I could also say, “I know in Them I believe.” He had to go. If I’m unfriending those who feel it necessary to try and make me a part of their business by advertising gimmicks of AIM or SWA, doesn’t it make sense to eliminate the exposure of those who would try to sell me that which would ruin my chances for eternal life?
Some could argue, “What about the many Catholics who are on your friend’s list? How about those of differing faiths?” My short answer is this, “Somebody told me, so I am here to witness to them.” However, those who consider themselves a member of the Adventist Church expressly spouting error, well, you should know better. You KNOW the Spirit of Prophecy writings and I don’t need you turning and twisting and blending these spiritual foundations of my church into something it was never meant to mean. In fact, you’re more dangerous, to me, than those of other denominations. Sadly, you’re the snake! You’re the “wolf” who’s snuck into the fold, and I’m using for my “rod” a “delete” button.
Considering all the “stuff” which the devil will use to confuse God’s people, I am beginning to be so grateful to my grandparents who saw to it I was sitting between them EVERY Sabbath getting a foundation established. Now, it is up to me to continue building upon this foundation—not another! So, in that day when I hear those words, “Here I am” it is because I already know the Great I AM, and this is Whom I will follow.
