The Children of Israel, out from a world system of false religious beliefs were brought to a time of bewilderment.  For over three hundred years being exposed to false religion, God kept His promise to the man they were named, (Jacob) Israel, whose grandfather, Abraham, being faithful to God, would receive the Promise Land.  But, it came, not without price.  Steeped in tradition and pagan idolatry, God would yet prepare for Himself a people who would be the depositories of His Law, the Ten Commandments.

No other nation or people were able to receive this.  This position would distinguish them from all other people on the face of the Earth.  However, possession doesn’t mean exclusiveness, for even out of Egypt during the Exodus, God allowed a “mixed multitude” to join with Israel, who, too, were able to share in the privilege of knowing God’s Law and have the opportunity to put behind them their previous ways, beliefs and tradition and also be considered a “Jew”, the chosen people of God.  We read in the Book of Esther during a time of tribulation:  “And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.” Esther 8:17 (KJV)  It is a privilege to be considered a “Jew”, a “chosen” people of God.

In these last days, out from religious confusion, traditions and pagan beliefs, God’s Church was steeped with Romanism for over 1,260 years.  God’s promise to Abraham would not falter even in this time for He promised to him his seed would be innumerable as the sand of the shore.  Just as God chose Israel to receive the Law He chose Seventh Day Adventists to come out of the confusion, to be distinguishable from others because they, too, would be the depositories of His Law, the Ten Commandments.

“And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, (1,260 years) from the face of the serpent (satan acting through the Roman church).  And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood (false beliefs:  Sunday is the day of worship, people go to heaven when they die, you can eat anything and everything) after the woman (God’s church), that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.  And the dragon (satan) was wroth with the woman (God’s church), and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Rev 12:14-17 (KJV)

The devil doesn’t like God’s Ten Commandments and it would stand those who follow him whether willfully or ignorantly do not like His Ten Commandments either!  They will come up with all kinds of reason for their justification such as:  “New Covenant”, or “done away at the cross”, or “being under grace”, or “they were given to the Jews”.  So many excuses but none of them true!

I’m thankful I am one who stands in appreciation of God’s Ten Commandments and although I’m a Christian because I believe and follow Christ, I can also be reckoned as being a Jew, having been chosen, by God, to be a “depositary of His Law, the Ten Commandments” and I’ll tell it wherever I go and as long as I have breath.
