A former SDA pastor of almost 20 years, who left the church due to what he determined incongruence with Mrs. White, as well as this “New Covenant” belief which is springing up within the Adventist body wrote in his book:
“She also reflected the misinformed thinking of some in her day in such issues as science and social mores. This included racial prejudices. She stated that certain races of men are the result of the amalgamation of man and beast.” Greg Taylor, “Discovering the New Covenant – Why I Left the Seventh Day Adventist Church”, page 49.
I have read this countless times before and NEVER gotten the impression this man, perhaps others, have. Her, Mrs. White’s words were thus:
“But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of GOD, and caused confusion everywhere. GOD purposed to destroy by a flood that powerful, long-lived race that had corrupted their ways before Him.”—Spiritual Gifts, vol. 3, p. 64.
Perhaps at surface reading, one could come up with the conclusion Mr. Taylor has and if this would be one of several points to which he takes issue, then his other arguments are suspect as well as his intent. While I’m enjoying reading his book, gaining insight into how and why someone could be induced to leave what is obviously God’s “remnant” church for these last days, it begs to be asked, “Where could one go if leaving this church?” The short answer, I’m now coming to the conclusion, “Not an established denomination but one of our creation.” Hence, why these people can come up with the name, “New Covenant Seventh Day Adventist” and yet they no longer believe the “seventh day” is binding upon today’s Christian! Go figure.
Satan twisted God’s word to our first parents and started this mess we are a part of. He has had almost 7,000 years to practice his deception, growing stronger, while we have had the same amount of time growing weaker due to sin and our humanity. It is so well devised and cunningly applied, what was once easily understood becomes convoluted by our thinking and what was well understood becomes questionable, at the risk of our eternal salvation. I believe this is why God called for His church to “repair the breech” to keep to the standard and raise it high. Well, apparently we don’t need to raise it too high because those who used to raise it are lowering the solid ground upon which they first stood.
The enemy is satisfied with nominal churches (Sunday worshipers) because he has already deluded them. His attack, according to Scripture is after the “remnant” body because of two things: “They keep the Commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” If our message now becomes the “Commandments” are no longer binding, then our testimony regarding Christ becomes tainted, all the while people thinking things are going well. There are few things worse than thinking all is well when you know it is not, but what is worse is thinking all is well and not know it is not at all.
Don’t allow yourselves to be deceived.
