There is a great problem confronting us and seem to be much confusion, especially because so many of us are caught up and woven into the very fabric of what constitutes, Babylon. Here is the Scripture:
The Fall of Babylon
And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. (2) And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. (3) For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. (4) And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. (5) For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. (6) Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. (7) How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. (8) Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. (9) And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, (10) Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. (Rev. 18:1-10 KJV)
In short, Babylon from a “prophecy” perspective is defined as a “system of false belief and doctrine”. It, the “false church” is called “Babylon” and God is giving a directive, not a request to, “Come out of her, My people”. But, if we do not know what constitutes Babylon, especially if we are in it, then how do we know the command is directed at us? The other side of that coin is, if we are already “out” of her, then why is it many of us continue to consort with her? It would help to go back to how Babylon affected God’s people.
If we remember the story when Israel had done wrong and needed correction, God caused Israel to get the message, through Jeremiah, there was coming a time when Israel would be taken by Babylon and they were to go willingly. Those who resisted this factual event would suffer greatly, even more than those who went willingly. In fact, God instructed Israel to go and build their houses and grow their crops and live. In other words, He was telling them, don’t fight Me! This is happening for a reason and you must be content with what I’m doing in your lives to bring about the desired effect. I remember I was having a “Babylon experience” in my own life. I had done wrong and God had to take me there. I had to do work which I did not like, for my punishment. Every day I beseeched God to remove this problem and help me to find work I’m more accustomed. He told me, “Change your attitude and be content.” When I learned to do that, and it didn’t take me long, that job I was able to walk away within 30 days and found work. Perhaps I will elaborate the reasons of the situation another time, but sufficeth to say, I learned something important about punishment. When God is in the correcting business, it becomes your business to receive it and then let Him take you out when He is ready.
Now, Israel was given 70 years of this punishment, and they knew this. Then, they were called to “Come out of her, My people” and what was the result? Many of them got so comfortable they continued to exist within Babylon. They didn’t want to leave their homes, friends, work and whatever else consisted of their daily lives. There is a lesson in this.
God’s church, according to Revelation 2 and 3 became Babylon, as a system. There were still individuals who hadn’t fallen and given up on following God properly but as a whole, the system became corrupt, ruled the world, and THIS explains why so many of us/you are caught up within the system of false religion, false teaching and doctrine, and false worship. In Rev. 14, God begins to warn His people about this system, and later the angel in Rev. 18 comes to add power and more force because the time was closing in when people needed to make a choice or be lost forever!
My point, too many of us have become comfortable within the confines of Babylon. We worship on the wrong day. We hold onto false beliefs and doctrine and we believe since we’ve been doing this a long time it is good, but God is calling us to “Come out of her, My people”. There are many of us, too, and I’m speaking about the Seventh Day Adventist Church who have been chosen to have remained “out of Babylon”, but we continue to consort and find comfort with Babylonish music, preaching, reading and lifestyle! Oh yes! When I review posts to be approved within the various groups, I see how many of you want to have posted in SDA groups, the music, preaching, writings of those who are considered “Babylon”. Why is this? Have you become so comfortable with this type of worship it is now preferred before God’s? Why would God ask us to “Come Out” and we continue “Going Back” in order to incorporate what is truth with error?
The other question which needs to be asked within ourselves, if God is calling us to “Come Out”, is there a time when we should do this, or do we begin to prepare ourselves and do it NOW? Because, as life goes, if I know what I am to do, then I should do it without waiting for a particular time to do so. I’m trying to straddle the fence and that can never be a good thing to do. We must step away from the music of Babylon we love so much. We must step away from the preaching and preachers of Babylon we love so much. We must begin to cause a separation between us, so when God makes the final call just before the Time of Trouble, which is ushered in by the National Sunday Law, that call of God is not made to us directly because we’re already out. In fact, it seems foolish to know this truth and not already acting upon it! We should be in our churches welcoming those who have come out and not be one of those being called to “Come out”!
The line in the sand is drawn by one distinction: Those who keep the Commandments of God and keep the seventh day Sabbath as evidence of being outside of Babylon. Why then, do you feel the need to get anything, anything at all, from those who will have to come out in order to be saved?
