“The messages that we have received from heaven are true and faithful. When one man strives to bring in new theories, which are not the truth, the ministers of God should bear clear warning against these theories, pointing out where, if received, they would lead the people of God. Those who have received the light of present truth should not be easily deceived, and readily led from the true path into strange paths. The watchmen are to be wide-awake to discern the outcome of all specious reasoning; for serious errors will be brought in to lead the people of God astray….” Ellen G. White’s “The Retirement Years”, Chapter 1. “Adventist Pioneers”.
This paragraph quoted above has special relevance to those of us who are now gray-headed and nearing the end of our watch with what we see occurring today with some of the younger members of the faith even more so by older members of our faith! Particularly as we end this year, if it’s going to be anything like last year, you will see those posts which will argue the fact January 1st is not the new year, but the Spring of the year should be observed, yet they’re not able to tell you what day this should occur. They don’t remember our pioneers of the faith did observe January 1st as being the start of the new year. Then, there are others who’ll spout about moons and the Sabbath not occurring as according to the calendar, which they denounce and will tell you the Sabbath, the “true” Sabbath occurs ONLY on the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of the month. Yet, the pioneers of our faith are continuing in the same Sabbath observance our Lord maintained and kept, as well as the Jews during this time. And then you’re going to hear about the Levitical Feasts and how they should be observed and would have you outside living under branches, as if this would qualify you for special providence, yet, I don’t see where our pioneers accorded any value to this premise nor did they slaughter any lambs!
And…so, these individuals would have felt they’ve received some special impart, from Heaven, and feel it necessary to place this in the public review regaling themselves as having returned to the old ways and adjudge you needing to the same. You will hear Adventist’s Probation will be ending next year, the beginning of tribulation, etc., etc., etc. as opposed to the world’s ending of probation. Again, not something the pioneers taught nor observed. So sad our people cannot continue in the faith as it was given like children having the need for a new toy because the old one holds no longer any interest. The fact the old is still viable and not broken gives credence to that gift given time ago and should be held in high regard and esteem.
These and all other spurious doctrines is what precipitates the “shaking”. It is the straight testimony given and adhered which causes those who desire “new” toys, to do either one of two things: (1) Leave the church as it is, the standard which has held true since 1844, or (2) Recant of their ways and return to the fold. My counsel, to you, this day, before all the soothsayers, naysayers and gainsayers come out from the places they’ve been hiding, to remain true to the Bible and KNOW IT by READING IT and stand firm upon that, like John, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 1 John 1:1-4 (KJV)
