BEING “ONE” DOES NOT MEAN ECUMENISM

When Jesus prayed His prayer:

“And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep through Thine own name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, as We are.” John 17:11 (KJV)

Ecumenism was not what He had in mind.  Always remember this key thought and clue to all religious matters:  Satan will always have a counterfeit.

Prison is the one place where a form of ecumenism has been realized.  It does not matter if you are white or black, straight or gay, a “Crypt” or “Blood”, old or young, religious or not, as long as you wear the color of an inmate, you are “one” against the officers or staff.  Crisis and tragedy brought the various mixtures together into “one” body and no matter what, whether right or wrong, inmates stick together.  Those who do not will find their stay dangerous which can and often result in death.

We are going to see the same take place in greater numbers as indicative by what we see today.  Already the Lutherans and Methodist have sold out on what brought the “Reformation” together against the Roman Catholic Church.  There are many, perhaps even you, who see this “coming together” as a good thing, perhaps even the answer to Christ’s prayer, but it is far from the truth.  I read this morning a comment of a brother’s post these words:

“So none of them read from the same manuscript? Be honest and stop denying the true facts. The Good News Bible, the King James Version, King James Revised Version, the Catholic Bible (which has more books than all the other manuscripts) tell the same story. Each beginning with Genesis and ending with Revelations.”

This is the understanding and attitude which will bring along the ideology we are all “one”, and is no difference between us.  This gentleman was responding to another’s post, who happens to be a member of a sect called, “Church of Christ”, which read:

“I pray soon people will realize denominationalism has nothing to do with Christianity… Things like Adventism, Baptist, Pentecostal, Methodist, Missionary Baptist, Jehovah Witnesses, Non-denomination and on and on and on….”

It is these two very distinct groups which will fuel “ecumenism” which is in our near future:  You have the one who claims we are all the same and the other who says the differences have nothing to do with Christianity, when he actually means “his” own brand of belief of Christianity, which he believes came from the Apostles, and we who know Bible history, became corrupt as soon as they had all died.  Even Christ spoke regarding the corruption of His own church in Revelation 2 and 3.

What we are seeing happening between the religious groups and Roman Catholicism should be the focus of any Bible student’s attention.  Hundreds of years of revolt have become stilled with the belief the differences we had, now forgotten, is causing the masses (no pun intended) to rejoin from which they left.  The belief, “let us find what is common among us” to overcome the differences is paramount and they will find reconciliation, but there can only be one head, and I’m not talking about Christ, at this point.  The one BIGGEST COMMON DENOMINATOR between all of the churches is this:  SUNDAY WORSHIP.  They worship on Sunday which originated from the Roman Catholic Church when it brought its own brand of Christianity mixing error with truth.  Does this remind anyone of someone who does this so well?  Think about a particular garden and a piece of fruit.  And sadly, many of you reading this who have their congregational worship on Sunday see no problem with this!  So, like the men on the same boat with Jonah came together to discover what is the problem and come up with a solution, they got rid of the one guy who was different from them.  They believed he was the problem, when in fact, he was the solution!

As you begin to see the “Church of Christ” (denomination/sect), Methodist, Lutherans, Episcopalian, Pentecostals, Holiness, Baptist, Assemblies of God, et al, begin to join hands with the so-called “mother church” (Roman Catholicism), just remember how the Bible categorizes them as a “Harlot with her daughters”.

Jesus truly spoke of this truth, “Many sheep I have which are not of this fold.”  He never said, “Many folds I have.”  He has “sheep”, not “folds”, into which the sheep will come out of these various folds into the “one” which truly follow Christ’s voice and words which God commanded from the very beginning of time.  The distinction will be made by the one difference God’s people, His true “remnant” church will have because they did one thing differently, which counted most of all, “REMEMBER the Sabbath (seventh day of the week, Saturday) day to keep it holy…”

If you are not “remembering” it is because you are not in the proper fold and you need to be.  Become “one” with Christ and not those who think they are of Christ.
