BEHIND THE CURTAIN

While having my morning’s devotion, I came across this quotation from Matthew Henry,

“But, though He did not destroy you for it while you were in ignorance, and knew no better yet now that He has sent His Gospel into the world, and by it has made a clear discovery of Himself and His will to all nations, and not to the Jews only, if you still continue in your idolatry He will not bear with you as He has done. All the nations that had not the benefit of divine revelation, that is, all but the Jews, He suffered to walk in their own ways, for they had nothing to check them, or control them, but their own consciences, their own thoughts (Rom. 2:15), no Scriptures, no prophets; and then they were the more excusable if they mistook their way: but now that God has sent a revelation into the world which is to be published to all nations the case is altered. We may understand it as a judgment upon all nations that God suffered them to walk in their own ways, gave them up to their own hearts’ lusts; but now the time is come when the veil of the covering spread over all nations should be taken off (Isa. 25:7), and now you will no longer be excused in these vanities, but must turn from them.”

This comes from his commentary regarding Acts 14 when Paul and Barnabas healed the crippled and the people thought they were “gods” and wanted to deify them.  It was the word, “veil” or in today’s vernacular, “curtain”, which made me think regarding a child’s story, a favorite of mine which today I know is truly not a child’s tale but one of the imagery of paganism, spiritualism and given to concoct in the minds of children a falsity to replace truth.  Also, I should point out before continuing, talking about how the “veil” is also used today from an Islamic viewpoint.  How much is shielded behind the Habib.  But, I digress.

If you review the photo of the “wizard”, what do you see, or should?  First off, how about the “pipes” behind?  Does it not remind you of certain pipes especially for those who attended the church I did growing up?  Does it not also remind of the “pipes” of someone else?

“Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy PIPES (method of communication) was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.” Ezek 28:13 (KJV)

What else?

What appears to be an “ark”, with images to represent the Ark of the Covenant with the two angels overlooking the Mercy Seat.  How about the “six” flames to supposedly represent the Holy Spirit which is always seven?  The “smoke” which represents the “prayers of the saints”.  All behind being conducted and produced by a man, the “wizard” behind a veil, curtain, as a high priest in the Levitical service of old which typifies our ministry today, or the ministry of Christ in the Heavenly Sanctuary today.

I’ll never view the “Wizard of Oz” the same again.  Never mind the fact the “city” is the color of “jasper” typifying the “walls” of the New Jerusalem.  In the old days, the colorization of the movie took place when the doors were opened and Dorothy and crew were allowed entrance.  Today, it begins when they’ve landed in Munchkin land and returns to “black and white”, (there’s nothing wrong with your television sets—to take a line from the “Outer Limits”), when she manages to arrive back home, it all having been a dream.

Today, there’s another man who emulates a “wizard” for he calls himself, and sadly, many people follow this man is if he is a god, on earth:

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” 2 Thess 2:3-4 (KJV)

While too many (Catholics) are already in his city worshiping him (Sunday), there are a great many who are on their journey to “Oz” by following the pagan practices and traditions (Apostate Protestantism) who are wanting to see the “wizard” because they’re thinking by taking this journey they’re headed to the celestial city—but, they will not gain entrance.

There will be nobody there who will hand them:  courage, a heart or a brain!
