How many of you have heard others say and teach about being in the “new” covenant and not the “old”? Have you heard the teaching of dispensations? Do you recognize what the numbers 400 and 1260 have in common? Have you ever tried to get to the second floor of a building bypassing the first floor? Doesn’t make sense, does it. Let’s discuss this.
There are similarities in the Bible given us for our example so we are not left in the blind regarding what God has done and IS doing in our time. The time between the end of the Old Testament book, Malachi, and the beginning of the New Testament book, Matthew, is about 400 years. That one blank page in your Bible which separates what is called the “old” from the “new” has more truth on it, but like the page which is blank, many cannot see how rich it is of information.
During these 400 years God’s people did not have any light given them. In other words, there was no prophet sharing with them light from God. They stumbled along and during this time the priests and heads of their government created laws and conditions upon which if the populace wanted to be considered worthy and with God, they had to do in addition to what God had told them. But, they forgot about God and followed their leaders until they were living in a religion which was worthless, filled with rituals which became traditions, and the people as a religious body, God’s people, were lost.
“And to the woman (God’s church) were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (a thousand two hundred and threescore days (1260 years)), from the face of the serpent (papacy = pope). And the serpent cast out of his mouth water (false doctrine) as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth (angry) with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant (small portion left) of her seed, which keep the commandments (10 Commandments) of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (prophets and their teaching given by the Holy Spirit).” Rev 12:14-17 (KJV) (Bro. Roy’s observation: It is no secret that compared to those who do not keep the 10 Commandments versus those who do, the amount is very, very small. A remnant, just like the Book said!)
“And I will give power unto my two witnesses (Old & New Testament), and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days (time, and times, and a half of time (1260 years), clothed in sackcloth. (Dark Ages/Middle Ages)” Rev 11:3 (KJV)
When you read it with the proper understanding, it makes you breathe out “whew”!
So, let’s compare the 400 with what occurred with 1,260, which is the time of the papal (pope) system (538 AD until 1798 AD) when the Bishop of Rome, better known as the pope was given the authority over Church and State as its head until the pope was taken into exile during the French Revolution, died and later replaced by another given the authority, by a government, and assuming power gradually until we see Pope Francis, today, continuing to grow in strength, influence and power. Also during this time there was no light given (sackcloth). There were no prophecies nor prophets to share with them. God’s people wandered in a very dark time, while the church created rules and laws to control the conscience of the people. This is when Sunday-worship an attempt to do away with God’s true Sabbath (Saturday) was enforced, to open the door for pagan (Greek) to feel comfortable. This is where Christmas and Easter and All Saint’s Day receive it’s power which many of you are still held captive. Sadly, while light is showing many of you wish to remain in darkness. And this continued until John the Baptist—then, and a young woman named Ellen G. Harmon White came along–later.
And, it was during this time when this “new” Testament would have begun, and the teachings of a new covenant would have originated, and as one is the stepping-stone to the other, and must be used along with each other, many today refuse to consider the foundation trying to reach the second floor and what happens? They would stumble physically, and they stumble in their understanding of Scripture, jump to fanciful conclusions which makes no sense had they started on the first floor. Too many are thinking they’re on the second floor believe and no longer need the first floor. Now, let’s ask a simple question: “If you’re on the second floor of a building, or your home, and the first floor is suddenly taken away, what would happen to your home or building?” It would crumble. Be of no value. Destroyed! And such is your faith, belief and religious walk. You are thinking you are standing, with standing, and you’re not, and until you get out of the Dark Ages and recognize the Middle (page between old and new) Ages for what it really is, you will never be able to stand in God’s presence when He returns because you have not stood on solid ground.
When Christ was here, He told the people to “search the Scriptures”. What Scriptures existed then—only? He was not telling the people to search what they would not even live to see, but to search what existed already for them to see. And, today, when hearing this admonition, Christ is telling us, you and me, to search not half of the Book but the ENTIRE Book so we have a fuller understanding of what happened then and what is happening now. And, until you do, not only are you not on the “true” second floor, but the light is no longer on, for you!
