I asked God to save me. If this is the way He’s chosen to do it, can this be alright with you?
This book is dedicated to the ones still, “out there”. To those who haven’t made it in. May God be with you.
It is dedicated to the ones who have made it; whether you are in detox facilities, meetings, programs or ministries helping you to recover.
This book is dedicated for those “in recovery” and those who have “recovered”.
It is dedicated to those mean streets of: Newburgh, Cleveland, Philadelphia and San Juan, whose streets teemed with people I met while on my route to recovery. I pray each and every one of you are well and have made it inside.
The book is dedicated to: Emma, Carmen, Ray, Pops, Iqueen, Cheryl, Terry, Laverne, Dee, Portia, and the hundreds of others, I personally sat with, and with a pipe shared a moment of death.
This book is also dedicated to a special one, Samantha. Without you, life would not be as pleasant as it is.
There are so many people I wish to thank and if you do not see your name personally, it’s my oversight and memory loss, but not of you and the impact you had on my life:
To my God and my Savior Jesus Christ. Thank You for never giving up on me.
To my parents, Roy and Rosa. It hasn’t been easy, but nothing truly good ever is.
To my brothers, Kevin and Brian. Thank you for taking me in when others wouldn’t.
To my late Grandmother, Louise (Nana). I’ll see you when I get there.
To Cindy. I’m so sorry, but now I understand. It was so good to see you again.
To Louisa. Your love and dedication truly showed me what love is.
To Karen. Thank you for your willingness to listen to God and provide direction.
To Mayra. Your willingness to work with me and love me makes me a better man.
To Don and Maxine. What can I say? I just love you so much. You are my family.
To Robert and Lydia. Again, what can I say? I love you so much and we are family.
To Pastor O’Reggio. Your words, led by the Spirit, became the catalyst of my recovery.
To Pastor Mike McCabe. For showing me God never leaves us despite ourselves.
To Mother Beth & David (Deceased). Thank you for showing me a piece of heaven.
To Dr. Linda Carter. Thank you for allowing yourself to be used by God.
To Sheryl, Greta & Jenny. My international readers, thank you.
To Minmei Fan and Yang Sanyan . Your love truly makes me feel like a “Dad”.
The Gospel According to Roy, Chapter 1, Verse 1:
“LORD, Save me!”
I thought I was born to do great and important things for God when all along, it was only His purpose to save me.
